Fashion4Nerds?

Socks and SandalsOk, so I disagree with the ban on white socks with sandals thing on a purely practical basis: in the summer time your feet sweat and socks help to absorb the sweat when you wear sandals! Am I right?!? YES!!

So there is this website that offers some fashion advice for nerds. Some of it seems legit, but others are a bit extreme. Since I’m married, I already have my own fashion consultant (wife/dictator). But I can’t wait for the summer, sandals, and white socks!!

Crap! I missed Slayer @ Hammerstein Ballroom!!

February 16th, 2007

Slayer Hammerstein
Slayer!!!!!!

So browsing through the NY Times today, I just realized that I missed catching Slayer at the Hammerstein Ballroon on Thursday! Ahhh, curses!!!

Ok… ok, deep breaths… no problem, I’ll just have to wait a bit longer to see them again (weep, weep).

But, damn, now they are article material in the New York Times?!? Nice…

“Who would have thought, back in the 80s, that the clatter of Slayer’s rhythm section would someday become one of those archaic folk forms worth preserving just as an example of human mastery, like Kansas City swing or flamenco singing?”

I, along with thousands of other Slayer fans, feel vindicated. So proud, so proud.

To honor this occasion, I will queue Slayer on my playlist for the next month! Slayer!!

Is that a Wendy’s behind me??

Mmm… a bowl of chili and a spicy chicken sandwich would warm me up just right!

Republic

Republic Menu Cover Scan

My wife and I *love* this place!

But we only get to come here maybe once every other month or so. Maybe that’s what makes Republic seem even better. Their food is simple and clean, and the staff is very nice even when it’s packed and hurried. I also love the fact that they use PDAs to “sync” our orders to the kitchen. Hot!

Recommendations: If you don’t know what to get, go with the Fried Dumplings and the Shrimp Pad Thai. If you want something a bit different, try the Grilled Salmon on Curried Rice. Yum yum yum!

Ok, now I’m hungry again.

Solid mexican food hot off the grill. The steak burrito never disappoints. Also, the pitcher of sangria is really tasty and BIG! Yeah!!!

Time to build a new computer

January 20th, 2007

Core 2 vs X2My aging Dell Precision 330 needs to be retired. I *want* a new dual-core processor. But do I go Intel or AMD? I’m like a kid at a candy store with just enough money to buy 1 candy bar. Snickers or Baby Ruth? Butterfinger?? Mars Bar?!?

Back to a normal phone

January 18th, 2007

Motorola RAZR V3MOk, so after almost a year with a “Smartphone” (Treo 650), I’ve gone back to using a regular phone – Motorola Razr V3M. I’m on Verizon, so my phone option were a bit limited and I did *not* want to change carriers. The Motorola Q was tempting, but it’s UI turned out to be disappointly slow and clunky. I’m tired of the Treo brick-phones, so back to a regular phone again… until a faster and sleeker smartphone comes out.
