“Say hello to my little friend!”

December 26th, 2006

That being a 2007 Toyota Matrix in Phantom Gray Pearl. Yeah!! Picked it up last Saturday and drove it out to Jersey. Man, it’s really nice to be driving a new car. I love my old bimmer, but the Matrix is a comfortable ride. And now I can actually haul some cargo! Who’s coming with me to IKEA?

Zatoichi

November 10th, 2006

Zatoichi TV CoverI am *addicted* to the Zatoichi series of movies and TV shows from Netflix. The stories are about the adventures of “Ichi”, a blind wandering swordsman. Zatoichi is played brilliantly by Shintaro Katsu. The movies are an entertaining mix of action, drama, and humor.

La Nacional

The best seafood paella I’ve had in NYC!  Plus, tasty tapas and sangria! Yum! Yum!!

Went there for a friend’s b-day party and had a great time! It’s a small but cozy place with good food and drink.

Neglect

August 23rd, 2006

I’m sorry blog. I’ve been seriously neglecting you. I could give you the usual excuses like work, family commitments, golf; no actually, I haven’t been golfing lately either, but really, I just forgot. Bad! Bad!

Thinkpad back from Repair Center

February 22nd, 2006

IBM Thinkpad T40pAfter a painfully long holiday weekend, my laptop is finally back from the IBM Repair Center. Fixed were the onboard LAN, WiFi, and USB 2.0 ports. I’m crossing my fingers that other components don’t start failing in the next few months. Prior to sending this machine in for service, my MS Office install was seriously flaking out, so I’m still thinking about wiping the system clean and doing a reinstall. Shitte!

Luckily, I lost no data during this time, and it did kick my lazy butt into backing up all my important files on the laptop.

Reviving the Omnibook

February 19th, 2006

Omnibook 500It lives again!

After gathering dust on a shelf, my HP Omnibook 500 laptop of past mobile computing glory is back in the daily rotation as a portable living room browsing machine.

This little thing sports a Mobile Pentium III/600, 512MB SDRAM, 40GB hard drive, 12.1-inch XGA TFT screen, 8MB ATI Rage Mobility M1 and a Belkin 802.11b/g wireless card. And all this at just 3.7 pounds in a 1 inch thick chasis.

I originally got this laptop back in 2002. Now, I just hope this machine can continue running smoothly as a modest living room laptop.

An unpaved road, a manhole, and a cracked oil pan!

November 3rd, 2005

Looking for a parking spot in the East Village late Tuesday night. Instead I get a loud thud, a complete loss of engine power, and a cracked oil pan with oil pouring out. F@!#ing NYCDOT! Finish paving the streets in my neighborhood already!!
